Growth by Disestablishment
Spontaneous Growth
Can we learn from high school-age students? Oh yes we can! And what they teach us is the joy to be found in Disestablishment.
Note: the college group depicted was edited slightly for content and was not meant to actually represent any person(s), living or dead (other than those shown in the video).
But truthfully, is it not obvious that growth set free from the encumberances of our complicated Western-style church programs becomes truly joyous growth? As the third high school teacher said, “We don’t want candles! We just want to reach people for Christ!”
Our Chinese brothers and sisters can teach us a lesson about church growth, the high school teacher points out.
And watching that old man, it’s a wonder he ever had the nerve to stand up there and presume to lead them!
Such are the ways of Disestablishment through the Christian era: set free from government control and bureaucracies, the Holy Spirit has a chance to lead!

I don’t know when I’ve ever viewed something that caused such a mixture of emostions: pride in our phenomenal young people (high school and college); humility at the example they have set through their willingness to “pay the price” in order to win peers and friends to relationship with Christ; joy at their attitudes and enthusiasm; the list could go on and on. Just know that Howard and I are exceedingly grateful to the Lord to have been allowed to witness this during our lifetimes and are supporting you all in prayer. You are all examples to us of what the Body of Christ is all about!
That’s a really great thing to say, Marilyn. Thanks.
Thanks for the encouraging words, Nana Hugs. We do appreciate your prayers and support. These edifying words do remind me that we do have a body of Christ with so many different types of people who have the same thing in mind.
